Risk Assesment

Readers will note that this document has been laid out in many cases so that the information and guidelines contained within are produced in a simple checklist/forms format for future assistance and continuity to the user. Use the checklists/forms to assist yourself in your duties and then simply reprint and replace the used checklist from the desktop publishing facility provided within this programme. This document is only a guide and by no means exhaustive, It is a basic guide for company management and staff and is aimed at reducing the risk of incidents in the communal area. This guide does not deal with certain specific risks and processes arising from local or national activities. Whilst this is a comprehensive document, users should satisfy themselves that the arrangements and procedures detailed within this document are suitable and sufficient for their intended application and meet current national regulations, legislation and insurance requirements. In all circumstances users are to seek specialist advice where special conditions or risks exist.

1. MEANS OF ESCAPE IN CASE OF FIRE

1.1 Check travel distances are satisfactory from the furthest point to a final exit door [ ]

6.5 Check that fire action notices are displayed adjacent to fire alarm call points and in staff areas [ 1 ]

7. TRAINING. FIRE INSTRUCTION AND DRILLS

7.1 Check that there is a clearly defined fire policy provided for all site which includes the provision
for the safety and welfare of disabled staff and visitors in the event of a fire or emergency [ 1 ]

7.2 Check staff who are nominated to fight fires are trained to use fire equipment [ 1 ]

7.3 Check that a Fire Safety Manager has been appointed [ 1 ]

7.4 Check that where applicable a Fire Marshal has been appointed [ 1 ]

7.5 Check that a responsible is present within the communal area at all times [ 1 ]

7.6 Check that written information on the action to be taken in the event of fire is available
to all persons visiting the building, including guests and contractors [ 1 ]
